Professional info​

My CV will reveal over 18 year of experience in the shipping industry, while most of this experience has comprised of off-shore (sailing) and technical Project Management.

My journey in Shipping started as a cadet (or Engineer Trainee) in July 2000 following which I rose quickly through the ranks to lead the day to day technical running of ships as a First Engineer. This leadership experience resulted in great learning, particularly in dealing with multicultural staff and driving performance towards common goals without compromising on safety.

 

After a few years as a first engineer, I decided to challenge myself through a job in Dubai Dry Docks as a technical project manager.

As a project manager in Dubai Dry Docks, I was exposed to the commercial pressures of shipping lines that demanded a fast turnaround of vessels. Managing these deliverables while still ensuring compliance with technical standards, staff rotations and internal policies taught me how to manage conflict which I believe is relevant to any and every job in modern-day business.

As an individual, I am a firm believer in the importance of teamwork and I give priority to building relationships in my pursuit of professional excellence.

Dry Docks World Dubai
  • End to end ownership of managing minimum 20 vessels annually each worth $2.5 million
  • Proactively discharging my duties as a single point of contact for both internal and external customers.
  • Recently leading salvage operations of vessel Maersk Honam hereby generating revenue of $25mn for the company.
  • Identified project risk,developed and implemented a continuous strategic plan approach to minimize risk and maximize profit margin by almost 7-10 % .
  • Have strategically planned project deliveries to improve the project cash flows enabling 60-70 % completion of planned invoicing during the course of ship repairs.
  • Applied project management tools and attended various internal training programs to deliver project on time and within the stipulated budget constraint.
  • Led cross functional and multi disciplinary teams in a matrix organization and effectively resolved conflicts among team members, and effectively managed all stakeholders during the complete life cycle of the projects.
  • Teamed with business development managers to integrate customer data into new products that increased revenue and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensuring compliance of MAPOL & IMO regulations there by saving marginal cost for the company and protection of environment.
  • Successful new building and commissioning of $111 mn vessel Gunvor Maersk at Lyngso Denmark.
  • Gained experience and training in high voltage plant thereby reducing 5% vessel maintenance costs to the owners.
  • Developed hands on experience in instrumentation and circuit repairs there by significantly reducing breakdown costs of $ 50000 each project.
  • Went through expert training course for hydraulics and developed hands on skill for rectifying hydraulic faults thereby saving breakdown costs to the owners by $30000 each project.
  • Executed PMS plan and inventory control management were I delivered company KPI's and KPOs. 8% cost reduction was achieved by inventory control planning.
